The rental prices of the holiday homes already include the costs for electricity, water, gas (for cooking), bed linen, towels and final cleaning. There are clear and unambiguous legal regulations on this in the Price Levy Ordinance. You will not find hidden and therefore legally unacceptable additional costs, which only make the rental price appear low at first glance, with us. However, we ask you to note the following special features:

The free electricity consumption per week is limited to 150 kw/h for holiday accommodations with air-conditioning. Those who use more electricity have to pay 0,27 Euro per kw/h at the end of their holiday. However, the 150 kw/h are usually sufficient for normal use of the air conditioners. This limitation should only prevent the air conditioners from running all day long, even when windows and doors are open, thus wasting electricity and, above all, causing unnecessary additional pollution of the environment.

If the central heating is used by the tenant (optional and only possible where this can be offered according to the description of the property), as a rule an additional contribution must be paid.

Who wishes an Internet access during its vacation (optional and only there possible, where this can be offered according to object description) must pay usually 28, - per week in cash on the arrival day. Some holiday accommodations, however, also offer free Internet access.

Guests who arrive at the agreed meeting point after 22:00 must pay a flat-rate night surcharge of 30,- Euro, after 24:00 50,- Euro to the keyholder or the administrator in cash on the day of arrival (see also the FAQs under "Night surcharge").

In the case of long-term rentals, all consumption costs (water, electricity, gas, internet ...) are normally paid by the tenant himself.

Certainly the largest airport in Andalusia is the international airport of Málaga (over 13 million passengers per year). This is where all the big and small airlines in the world land, especially since the airport has been expanded enormously over many years and finally reopened in March 2010. Whether you want to spend your holidays on the Costa del Sol or on the Costa de la Luz, the airport in Málaga is in any case the first choice.

Alternatively, the airports Sevilla and Jerez located in the west of Andalusia could be considered. But those who want to spend their holidays at the Costa del Sol especially in the Axarquía (thus east of Málaga), have to reckon with some hours driving time from Jerez and Sevilla to the Axarquía. These two airports are only recommendable if one wants to have a holiday exclusively at the Costa de la Luz. The airport in Cordoba is currently only approached by relatively few airlines and is therefore neither an alternative for holidaymakers who want to go to the Costa del Sol nor for those who want to go to the Costa de la Luz.

Other destinations might be the eastern airports of Almería and Granada. But here, one has to reckon with approximately 2 hours driving time to the Axarquía (Nerja, Torrox, Cómpeta, Sayalonga ...).

Conclusion: Thus, those who have the possibility to fly to the international airport in Málaga should always do this as first choice and only in exceptional cases decide for one of the alternatives mentioned above.

Especially in the summer months July and August it can get really hot in Andalusia; 40 degrees and more are often reached here. Mostly these heat periods do not last very long, so that air conditioners are not a real "must" in the summer time. Especially older houses still have very thick natural stone walls that insulate the heat much better than newer buildings. Also gardens, which were put on many properties, hold off the heat somewhat and the wind, which usually blows quite easily in the mountains, does its remaining.

Of course, air conditioners can be an advantage, but they don't have to be in every case. Especially not if one lets the air conditioner run the whole day on the highest level and then constantly goes from the warm terraces into the cold house to the inside. The inevitable consequence is a cold. Who likes to have a runny nose in summer?

Therefore we can only ask you in your own interest to use the air conditioning in the holiday homes sensibly. For example, in the hot months we only turn on the air conditioning in the bedroom in the evening about 30 minutes before going to sleep, so that the temperature in the bedroom is about 28 degrees when we really fall asleep. Even if we spend an evening inside, the air conditioning runs, provided it is really unbearably hot outside.

In order to avoid that electricity is used senselessly, the following regulation is valid for most holiday homes; The use of the air conditioning takes place after consumption. On your arrival and departure day we will read the electricity meter together with you. If the consumption exceeds the amount of 150 kw per week already included in the rental price, an additional payment in cash (the price per kw is indicated) is due for this part of the consumption. If the electricity consumption is reasonable, you can expect approx. 100 - 200 kw per week (depending on how intensively the air conditioner and the other electricity consumers are used).

In Andalusia there are countless sightseeings and excursion possibilities, so a 2-week holiday is not even nearly enough to visit only 20% of the offered sightseeings. We have been coming to Andalusia since the end of the 90's and have been living there for several months at a time, but still haven't seen everything. Our list is still quite long, and if we have ever seen everything, we will surely start all over again.

But there is one sight in Andalusia that is almost an absolute must: Granada with the Alhambra and the Generalife. Detailed information with many pictures about Granada, the Alhambra, the Generalife, the Albaicin, the Sacromonte and other sights can be found in our Andalusia travel guide.

In principle, all holiday homes must be vacated by 11 a.m. at the latest on the day of departure; the move-in or meeting at the meeting point cannot take place before 4 p.m. This also means that for legal liability reasons alone you cannot park your luggage in advance if the house cannot be occupied until 4 pm. We ask for your understanding! For a few objects there are different arrival and departure times, but this is noted accordingly.

Nevertheless, we will of course make every effort to ensure that if you arrive early, you will be able to move in before 4 p.m. but not before 11 a.m., and if you depart late, you will be able to stay longer than 11 a.m., but not later than 2 p.m., in your holiday home. However, this assumes that the guests before you do not depart on your arrival day and that the guests after you do not arrive on your departure day. Furthermore, such a change must of course be coordinated with the respective cleaning staff and conform to their own work plans. Moving in before 11 am and/or moving out after 2 pm is generally only possible if you book an additional night.

We kindly ask you to ask for an earlier move-in - before 4 p.m. but after 11 a.m. - or a later departure - after 11 a.m. but before 2 p.m. - at the earliest 1 - 2 days before your arrival or departure. Only then will we know what the actual occupancy of your holiday home will be. Even if a few days before your arrival or after your departure are still free according to the occupancy plan, this often changes at short notice because guests extend their holiday or arrive a little earlier.

Please also note that we charge an additional fee of 20.00 euros for this service, which must be paid on your arrival day and earlier in cash and counted on site at your key child unasked. If you stay longer in the house on your departure after consultation with us - until max. 14 o'clock - please put the 20,- Euro with a note "For Jörg" on the living room table.

Attention: If you should be found without previous agreement after 11 o'clock by the cleaning staff in the holiday house, then a further daily price is to be paid immediately and in cash on the spot.

At this point we would like to remind you once again to state your exact arrival times when you book so that we can prepare for your arrival. You certainly don't want to wait an hour or longer for your "key child", do you? You can expect a total of 2-3 hours to pick up your luggage at Malaga airport, pick up your rental car and get to the agreed meeting point. Your departure times are also important so that the cleaners can get their work done. If you do not have these times at the time of booking, or if they change, please let us know by e-mail afterwards.

Thank you very much for your help!!

If you are arriving with your own car, you should note that there are some houses in our offer where the journey takes place via country lanes or via steeper or narrower driveways. With lowered vehicles, vehicles with spoilers, sports cars (e.g. Porsche, Ferrari, ...) but also with camper vans or larger transporters, it can be a little more difficult to reach one or the other holiday home in individual cases. Here you should know your own vehicle as well as possible and have it under control as well as be an experienced driver.

If possible, please contact us by telephone or in writing before booking if you would like to arrive with such or similar vehicles. We will then be able to give you a detailed description of the route to the holiday home of your choice so that you can make a decision for or against this holiday home.

We will also be happy to give you tips and accommodation suggestions for your journey by car from Northern Europe to Andalusia. There are certainly several routes that lead to Andalusia, but in principle there are only 2 rough directions or routes. One is a toll road via Dijon, Lyon, Montepellier, Perpignon, Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante, Almería to your destination. From Frankfurt am Main to e.g. Cómpeta you need about 24 hours time and about 120,- Euro in toll fees. The other, completely toll-free and certainly scenically much more varied route takes you past Bordeaux via Biarritz, San Sebastian in the Basque Country, Madrid and Granada to your holiday home in southern Spain. For the toll-free route, you will certainly need 4 - 5 hours longer, i.e. a total of almost 30 hours and approx. 2,200 km. In any case we recommend you to plan one or the other overnight stay. And stops in Lyon, Barcelona or Alicante are just as interesting as in Bordeaux, Biarritz, Madrid or Toledo.

Since its foundation in 1997, the Association of German Holiday Home Agencies (VdFA) has been promoting holiday homes and promoting quality awareness among providers.

The more than 50 VdFA members have committed themselves to describe their accommodation truthfully, to have their company legally audited at regular intervals and, above all, to treat their holidaymakers and guests fairly before, during and after their holiday.

The association and the VdFA member agencies are your contacts for questions, problems, wishes and suggestions. Many employees of the agencies are several times a year even in the countries in which they arrange holiday homes, some live there like us. They all know their regions exactly and know what they can recommend to whom. You can find more information directly on the VdFA website - please click on the round VdFA picture at the bottom of the page.

The VdFA has put together a small guide for those who want to be as safe as possible when booking their holiday accommodation and want to look forward to a relaxed start to their holiday.

In most holiday homes and apartments you will find basic equipment in the kitchen. Normally you will find things like coffee, coffee filters, tea, salt, sugar, various spices, dishwasher tabs, washing powder, toilet paper, etc.

Unfortunately, this does not apply to all holiday properties, because whenever the last guests have used up all their supplies, but have not replenished them, one or the other may be missing. This is quite rare, but unfortunately it happens every now and then. Therefore we can only ask you to make sure that your new tenants also find the supplies that you have found.

We cannot grant a legal claim to such basic equipment.

In addition, the kitchens are usually very well equipped, but this does not necessarily mean that you will always find various baking tins, kitchen scales or garlic presses. In some houses this is certainly the case, but not in everyone. Of course there is hot and cold water in every house, a German coffee machine, a refrigerator, enough cutlery and crockery, pots, various cooking utensils ... as well as the devices explicitly mentioned in the description (e.g. dishwasher, kettle, toaster ...).

We have created a detailed and complete overview of all beaches from Herradura to Málaga - this is a stretch of the Costa del Sol to the Costa Tropical of over 70 km - for you at www.competa-online.de. Furthermore there are some more beach descriptions in eastern direction to Salobreña and in western direction to Marbella, which we complete bit by bit. You can find them on www.competa-online.de

On this overview you find not only pictures and a detailed description of the individual beaches but also the corresponding Google coordinates. With these coordinates and the link "Google Maps View" you can get your own overview of the beaches and the way to them directly on Google Maps.

Of course you will find freshly washed towels as well as fresh bed linen in all holiday homes offered here. The beds are already covered when you arrive and the towels for your holiday are usually on the covered beds or in the bedroom cupboard. If you stay 2 weeks or more, there will be a second, complete set of bed linen per person on the bed on your day of arrival. Per person and week you will be provided with 2 towels (usually no beach, shower or bath towels!!!).

Please note that in summer, due to the heat in many holiday accommodations, only bed linen without blankets can be found; this is not unusual here in the south, but completely normal.

Our owners have now decided - as has been the case in many other destinations for years - to book their holiday homes almost seamlessly.

For this reason, we would like to point out that we can generally no longer accept bookings on behalf of our owners for our holiday homes where booking gaps exceed 2-3 days.

The words "in the Campo" have a similar meaning to "in the country", not in a village, not at the edge of a village, but simply outside. So to speak "in the Pampa" (or also in the free nature), because in contrast to Northern Europe the ways to the houses in the Campo are mostly unpaved and since it is hilly in the Axarquía, the Campowegge are also more often in a at most middle-class condition.

However, an off-road vehicle is almost never absolutely necessary, but it can be advantageous for one or the other holiday home (e.g. Casa Castillo or Casa Iris). Many motorists simply feel safer. The fewest houses in the Campo are permanently inhabited, mostly they are pure weekend houses for the locals or holiday houses for the foreigners. Only a few houses are permanently inhabited, then almost always by foreign residents.

For most of the holiday homes we offer here in Andalusia, we recommend renting a car. Of course you can also take a taxi to your chosen holiday home, but this is likely to be too expensive for most holiday homes in the long run.

Of course, you are free to book the desired rental car with a rental car company of your choice. And sometimes the cheapest supplier is also a good or at least an acceptable supplier. In the last time it came however ever more frequently that one or other vehicle had a defect. Of course, this also happens in the best house and is nothing unusual for the time being.

Unfortunately, we also had to find out that very often the service staff of the rental car companies did not speak German or English as promised everywhere. Usually, in case of problems or a defect of the rental car, a tow truck is ordered whose driver does not speak any other language except Andalusian. And if then the rented car also failed at the booked holiday house the service, the driver of the tow truck does not know where he must drive (in the Campo and/or on the country or in the mountains there are no street names).

We and/or our German/English-speaking partner in Torrox Pueblo offer with Rental Car Planet and cars 2000, two in Torre del Mar and in Torrox Costa resident, smaller Spanish rental companies (see left navigation under "rental cars"). The prices are certainly in the cheapest range and if there should be a problem our partners will do the translation for you or take over the coordination of a repair or an exchange of the rental car.

Alternatively, we also offer you Sunny Cars - a rental car company that has been successfully operating the rental car business worldwide for over 20 years. The service of Sunny Cars direct is really very good, the price-performance ratio as a rule also. Please click on the link and have an offer calculated so that you can compare it with the prices and conditions of Rental Car Planet and Autos 2000.

Please note that we can no longer help you - including our guests - with problems with the car rental companies Record Cars or Gold Cars. Our recent experience with these companies has been anything but positive. We have had to make endless phone calls, wasted a lot of time, and were always annoyed by more than strange statements and behaviors from these rental companies.

Most holiday homes are located in the mountains of Andalusia, so they can often only be reached via winding country roads - you will find the height information on the start page. Sometimes the last stretch also leads over unpaved country lanes, where there are no crash barriers. When choosing your rental car, we recommend that you make sure that the engine has sufficient power depending on the number of people and luggage. With a fully loaded Smart with 45 hp (e.g. CDI Passion or CDI Pure) it could be a little harder for one or the other holiday home to get up the gradients. If you are unsure, please contact us - we know each house personally and of course the corresponding access routes.

What is "clean" for one person is far from being "clean" for another. Spiders seem to work particularly fast and efficiently. If the weather is right, even cleaned windows and floors can quickly be full of sand or dust again.

It goes without saying that the ladies and gentlemen who clean the holiday objects go to great lengths to meet your requirements. We also carry out random checks again and again without the cleaning staff knowing this beforehand. Unfortunately, it still happens that a guest is not 100% satisfied. In this case we ask you to help us and call us immediately. We will then come as soon as possible together with the cleaner, who will then "clean" the holiday home. This is the only way we are able to show the cleaning staff where there is obviously an additional need for action.

  • Please do not start cleaning yourself - unless you enjoy it!
  • Please do not tell us after your holiday that you were not completely satisfied with the cleanliness! How can we demonstrate to the cleaner where the problem was and show him/her exactly what should be done better?

Again and again we are asked whether the tap water in the booked holiday homes is drinking water or whether it can be drunk. Of course you can drink it and usually the quality is also very good, but:

  • You never know when the pipes or pumps were cleaned with what means.
  • In most holiday homes there are water deposits with 5,000 to 40,000 litres of water content, in which the water is "stored temporarily" in order to bridge supply bottlenecks. The water has been "standing" in the deposit for a while and is constantly refilled with new water.

Therefore we generally recommend our guests to buy the drinking water in the 5 - 8 litre plastic canisters in the big supermarkets. The price for the water there is between 9 cents and 12 cents per litre, and that should be worth your health. On the other hand, in the worst case, you risk that the toilet is the most visited place in your holiday home.

A few houses are equipped with an osmosis system; this is always mentioned in the descriptions of the holiday homes. Here you can drink the tap water without hesitation, but there are no vital minerals in this water, which can usually not lead to damage during a holiday.

Obviously, word has not got around yet. Within the European Union - including Spain and Andalusia - there is a single emergency number, 112, so travellers only have to remember a single number to contact local emergency services, police or fire brigades. As a rule, English will get you quite far. This uniform emergency number for the entire EU was already decided in 1991, but only about 1/4 of all EU citizens know this number so far - hard to believe!

Here all final cleaning costs are included in the total rent. There is generally no option to take over the final cleaning yourself.

If you have not yet booked any flights when booking your holiday home, you will of course not know your flight number or your arrival and departure times. In this case, please simply enter a question mark in the respective fields of the booking form. Once you have booked your flights, please send us the arrival times at Málaga Airport, the departure times and the flight number by e-mail, stating your name and the holiday home you have booked.

We need these times in order to be able to organise the handing over of the keys on your arrival day in advance and also to schedule the final cleaning of the individual holiday homes with the cleaning staff. If, for example, several guests arrive almost simultaneously on one day, we must agree in advance who will accompany which guests to the booked holiday home. If we do not have the flight times, you may have to wait quite a long time for the key child at the respective meeting point. The flight numbers are important for us to check on the Internet whether your plane is delayed or arrives on time.

Unfortunately, for the holiday homes we offer in the Campo of Archez, Algarrobo, Cómpeta, Sedella, Torrox ... do not offer garbage collection, which takes away the garbage of the guests!!! The holiday homes are scattered over a very large area and are sometimes quite difficult to reach (at least with a large garbage truck) so it is not easy and above all it would be enormously expensive to introduce such a service also for the holiday homes in the Campo.

Therefore we would like to ask you to always bring your garbage to the central garbage collection points. In Cómpeta such a place is just as at the normal meeting point as in Sayalonga or Algarrobo, in Torrox either on the connecting road to Cómpeta or at the northernmost roundabout, in Archez at the crossing to Corumbela ... In any case, these collection points are also easy to find for our guests who are not unfamiliar with the area. Admittedly, you have to get used to them, but after just a few days you will automatically take the garbage with you when you get into the car and go on a trip or drive down to the coast.

Please don't leave your garbage / garbage / empty bottles ... like the guests did in the picture on the right. It is very unpleasant for the cleaning squadrons to take the garbage of the guests with them, especially since the cleaning people very often only come to the houses with a scooter and it is almost impossible for them to take everything at once.

We would like to thank you very much for your help!

If you have booked a holiday home in the area of Algarrobo, Archez, Canillas de Albaida, Competa, Sayalonga, Torrox or Torrox Costa, the nearest golf course, the Baviera Golf Course, is in Caleta de Vélez. Depending on the location of your accommodation, you can get there by car in between 15 minutes (Torrox Costa) and 40 minutes (Canillas de Albaida).

A little further towards Málaga, in Rincon de la Victoria is the Añoreta golf course with 18 holes and a par 72.

You will receive the Google coordinates of your holiday accommodation and also the access data to the guest area automatically together with our confirmation of receipt of your balance payment or, in the case of short-term bookings, your total payment. Please always note, however, that the satellite images are usually not up to date, sometimes even the holiday homes (such as the Casa Aguila) completely missing, although we have been renting them for several years. If new images are uploaded to Google, the coordinates may also change slightly. In such a case, we would be grateful if you could send us an e-mail.

iPad users and users of mobile versions of Google Earth should put "loc:" in front of the coordinates, e.g. loc: 36°48'7.29" N 4° 2'27.54 "W. Otherwise, it is possible that the location of your holiday property in Spain or Andalusia - especially that of holiday homes in Campo - is not displayed correctly, but only the street or town closest to the search coordinates.

Please understand that for security reasons we cannot provide you with the coordinates in advance - i.e. before you have made a binding booking - and are not allowed to do so if instructed to do so by the owner. Our descriptions of the holiday accommodations are very detailed, there are usually detailed pictures and information to each room and to the outside area of the holiday house and also the occupation plan is usually current and for everyone visible. If we now make the Google coordinates available to everyone who requests them, we will open the door to burglars. And neither we nor the owners of the holiday accommodations want that.

If you are a regular guest ("repeat offender"), the situation is quite different. Since we usually know you personally, we are also happy to provide you with the Google coordinates of your possible holiday home in advance for a better assessment of the location. Just give us a call or send us an e-mail.

In general, open fire barbecuing is forbidden in Andalusia in summer (May to October) but also in other countries of Southern Europe. This ban rarely prevents guests in Andalusia from barbecuing anyway. At this point, it is especially important that you pay particular attention if you are still barbecuing. It is dangerous to fly too many sparks and above all to dispose of hot ashes in the garden. Again and again careless tourists trigger big fires and that is life-threatening for many people and the causer must take over in addition also still the not exactly insignificant costs.

In addition, it is also forbidden to throw away cigarette butts or dispose of glass in the campo, as both lead to an increased fire hazard.

In December 2012, we created the possibility on our old competa-online.de website for our guests to evaluate their holiday homes individually after their holidays. In the first step, we manually copied the ratings from the holidaycheck rating portal and manually inserted them on the pages of the respective holiday homes. Meanwhile there are however for nearly all holiday houses, which we offer in Andalusia at the Costa del Sol, already sufficiently much guest evaluations, in order to be able to make itself its own picture of the accommodation.

Since the beginning of 2013, all our guests automatically receive an e-mail one week after departure in which they are asked to rate the booked holiday home and their holiday. You can go directly to our website via the link attached to the e-mail and get started right away. You don't have to register or enter your holiday home or holiday period; you can immediately enter the text you want and the number of stars.

The first rating of a guesthouse corresponds to the last rating from 2018 on the www.competa-online.de website.

In some houses and apartments you will find a children's travel bed and/or a high chair for your little ones free of charge. This will be noted accordingly.

In all other houses we offer you the possibility to rent a children's travel bed and/or a high chair from us. Please let us know in good time if you wish to make use of this offer, as we only have a limited number of children's travel beds and highchairs available. Please hand over the rental prices in cash and counted on your arrival day to the "key child". You will receive further information about your key child after receipt of the balance payment.

We recommend that you order a children's travel cot and/or high chair immediately when booking, even if it is provided free of charge. In rare cases it may happen that the owner does not want to or can no longer offer his children's travel bed and/or high chair from the time of your booking until your first day of holiday. In such cases, the owner will ask us whether there will be a booking with a children's travel bed and/or high chair in the future and if this is not the case, we will take the property "free travel bed" and/or "free high chair" from the net and the holiday accommodation will no longer be offered in this form.

Even if you would like to rent a cot and/or a high chair from us, please ask us at the time of booking, as we only have a limited number available.

Please note that a children's travel bed and/or high chair that you have ordered for a fee must be brought to your booked holiday home separately. We would like to point out that you will still have to pay the fees for this, even if you decide spontaneously on site that this is no longer required!

Hiking in Andalusia - Those who know a lot will find more than enough possibilities for hiking in the nature reserves that start directly behind Cómpeta. Whether one walks more in the direction of "walking" from Cómpeta to Canillas de Albaida along the old irrigation system or walks more in the direction of "mountaineering" up to the 2.065 metres high mountain Maroma - almost everything is possible here. The nearby nature reserves give you more than enough opportunities to let off steam.

For hiking holidays we recommend all months of the year, only from mid-June to mid-September it can get really hot. In the summer months it is a real experience to hike in the riverbed of Nerja (river hike in Rio Chillar) - sometime after a few hours (depending on where you start) you also walk in August - i.e. in the absolute high summer - directly along or through the water. But also in December and January we often have temperatures around 20 degrees during the day and that with a bright blue sky and wonderful sunshine - what more could a hiker ask for?

The first rating of a guesthouse corresponds to the last rating from 2018 on the www.competa-online.de website.

You can find all offered holiday houses, fincas and villas in beautiful Spain (search terms at Google e.g.: Holiday home Spain; Villa Spain, country house villa Spain, Finca Spain) and there at the very bottom in the south of Spain. The autonomous region is called Andalusia (search terms on Google, for example: Holiday house Andalusia; Villa Andalusia, country house villa Andalusia, Finca Andalusia). The nearest international airport is in Málaga.

Most holiday homes, villas and fincas can be found in the province of Málaga (a part of Andalusia) and there in the Axarquía. The area is particularly famous for the Costa del Sol, the sunny coast of Spain (search terms on Google e.g.: Holiday home Costa del Sol; Villa Costa del Sol, country house villa Costa del Sol, Finca Costa del Sol, apartment Costa del Sol) with around 320 sunny days a year.

We recommend to take a rental car with all holiday properties offered here, especially with those which do not lie in a village or directly at the coast. This is the only way you can see the many sights of the country and visit the various beaches and bays. The costs for a small rental car in the high season amount to approx. 150,- Euro per week.

If you are interested in buying a holiday home in Andalusia on the Costa del Sol, you should always contact a reputable real estate agent. We strongly advise you not to purchase a property directly from the seller, especially if you do not speak Spanish perfectly and are not familiar with the legal situation in Andalusia.

Of course, a real estate agent costs money, usually quite a lot of money - and sometimes you wonder whether this commission is justified and fair at all. But you can also be pretty sure that with the purchase of your dream holiday home everything goes in order and you don't have to fear a bad awakening later - you wouldn't be the first to experience a bitter and expensive disappointment in Andalusia. Therefore, we recommend that you always visit a reputable real estate agent. You inform him of your wishes and he will search for a suitable holiday home for you and also take care of all the rather extensive preparations and examinations for the final appointment with the notary. One or the other real estate agent will also be happy to take care of your repairs, garden maintenance, pool cleaning, alterations ... look after.

If you want to buy a house in the Axarquía, we can recommend you one or the other serious real estate agent - we ourselves only rent holiday homes and do not sell them. Send us an e-mail and we will usually reply within a few hours.

For all bookings we need the following data of all fellow travellers who are over 16 years old:

Name, first name, sex, birthday, identity card number, date of issue and nationality.

This is certainly not a harassment and also not a data collection frenzy on our part but a mandatory, legally anchored regulation of the Guardia Civil in Andalusia. According to the Guardia Civil, however, this is only intended to combat terrorism. With overnight stays in hotels this is almost everywhere in the world for a long time already very common practice and long accepted by all tourists, but with the renting of holiday houses in Andalusia this is still quite a bit in need of getting used to. Surely there are still providers today who do not (at present) adhere to this regulation, but we do it because we do not want to have trouble for our guests or ourselves - your holiday is simply too precious for that! If you do not have the data at the time of booking or do not have it completely, please submit the missing data later.

You can read about it directly in the Spanish law (la ley orgánica 1/1992 orden int/1992/2003). Violation will be punished with high fines, which have to be paid by the guests themselves. This applies to non-disclosure as well as to deliberate or accidental misrepresentation.

In almost all holiday homes, intermediate cleaning, i.e. an additional cleaning of the accommodation during your stay at a charge, is possible. If you wish to do this, please contact us in good time so that the cleaning staff can allocate their time.

We will then contact the cleaner for an appointment and price. If you agree with the date and the price, the cleaner will come to your accommodation on the agreed day - please arrange everything else directly with the cleaner. The costs for this are to be borne by you and the payment takes place in BAR on the spot directly with key delivery.

If you have any special requests, we will of course be happy to help you - if necessary - with the translation of your requests. Our holiday properties are cleaned by Germans, Englishmen or Spaniards, so that there should be no communication problems.

For some years now, we have attached particular importance to the fact that as many holiday homes as possible have their own Internet connection (all W-Lan, therefore also suitable for iPads). Today this is the case for 100% of all holiday homes on offer. The connection to the outside world becomes more and more important, especially with a holiday home in the Campo, away from the villages and cities.

Most internet connections in the Campo - this is the name of the country / field around the small villages - from Algarrobo, Cómpeta, Canillas de Albaida, Sayalonga or Torrox work mostly via radio connections. So an antenna was installed at the respective holiday home, which in turn was directed to a larger, quite strong transmitter. Thus the information is transmitted from and to the antenna from the house. Only in rare exceptional cases there are here in this area houses, to which a telephone line was made available.

Some people will find the costs for the internet access of 28,- Euro per week high. However, please note that some owners have to pay more than 400,- Euro per year for the internet access to their provider if they use the internet all year round. In addition there are the costs for the antenna, the router, the maintenance and for the first connection.

The different operators of these radio connections work with very different quality standards, but have already become surprisingly reliable for some time. The transmission speeds are also gratifyingly fast today and in some cases can even keep up with ADSL bandwidths in Northern Europe. Nevertheless one cannot expect here in the hinterland of Andalusia the standard like e.g. in Northern Europe's large cities. With failures is to be counted always times and also the down and upload speeds go again and again totally into the cellar. A power failure - and this occurs particularly in the winter and in the autumn now and then - and already there is no more Internet.

Please also avoid downloading larger videos or music titles during your holiday. This may cause an increase in traffic and can lead to other users of the provider having no or only a very slow connection to the Internet. Then the provider may switch off your connection temporarily.

We can also only provide you with an Internet connection for your entire holiday period. An Internet booking, e.g. on a daily basis, or only for the first or last week of your holiday is usually not possible.

Important: Please always book your Internet connection together with your holiday accommodation - even if Internet access is free of charge. If you book the Internet access later, we may not be able to provide it for you due to technical reasons.

It goes without saying that we only provide you with access to the Internet, but not to the Internet.

It goes without saying that we only provide you with access to the Internet, but not a laptop or PC. So you must have your own laptop, tablet, smartphone ... take with you on holiday!

Especially due to the many emigrant series on German or English TV, the demand for rental properties for a longer-term period in Andalusia or the south of Spain has increased enormously in recent times. Many inquiries result only from a whim and are often anything but well considered. We recommend everyone who would like to live in Andalusia for a longer period of time to have a look at the area and the possible holiday homes in advance - especially if you would like to emigrate with children. Rent a cheap apartment and "clatter" for 2 weeks around the area and the holiday homes in question. Everything else makes little sense, at least not if you don't know the area at all.

Please also understand that we are not able to answer questions about schools, compulsory education, business start-ups, business models, jobs, taxes, car insurance ... to answer. Laws, regulations and interpretations change very quickly in Andalusia and throughout Spain, so we recommend that you contact an expert Gestoria (a service company that will take care of the administrative formalities for private individuals in return for payment) on the spot.

The houses listed under the category "long-term rentals" are rented both long-term (usually between 3 and 6 months) and short-term (up to 4 weeks). The monthly prices listed there are only valid for a minimum rental period of three months, but never for one or two months or even 6 weeks - especially not in summer time! We are always getting requests from very smart people who would like to rent a house in July for one or two months, but are disappointed (some even angry) if they don't have to pay the price shown under long-term rent monthly. Of course no owner will rent a house for 1.000,- Euro in July, if he can achieve this price already for one week in the high season.

The names and first names and the exact addresses of all tenants, the telephone and mobile numbers as well as the identity card number(s) of the main tenant(s) are required to draw up the contract. After receipt of all these data, our partners or the owners themselves prepare a rental contract in Spanish and if necessary also in English and send it to you by e-mail. This must then be completed and signed and returned by fax to the landlord or our partners. After receipt of the signed tenancy agreement and receipt of the deposit in the amount of usually 2 months rent, the tenancy agreement countersigned by the landlord will be sent back to you.

Normally water, gas and electricity are charged extra. The amount of the costs, which you expect here, depends naturally primarily on your personal consumption, but we pay e.g. for our house here at the Costa del Sol approximately 60, - euro at water and electricity per month. Of course, if you run electric radiators in winter without interruption, the mentioned costs can quickly multiply. In winter (when there is no central heating - especially in winter recommended - the mostly available gas stoves are a relatively cheap alternative to the electric radiators.

In almost all southern countries there are now so-called weekly markets. Besides the original sellers of fish, fruit, vegetables and other food, you will also find a lot of sellers who offer almost everything else your heart desires. From clothes of any kind over shoes (quite inexpensive), ceramics, second hand things, household goods and children's toys one finds actually almost everything.

Exactly the right thing for the vacation, but bring some patience with you, because especially the locals don't mind it in the slightest, if they hold a sometimes also longer chat with prams in the crowd and one has to moan by in the traffic jam. They are in Andalusia and the clocks are different there.

For almost all holiday homes the minimum rental period is 7 days, in a few exceptional cases it can also be 3 days. If you want or are able to stay less days than the listed minimum rental period, this is no problem, but you have to pay the price for the minimum rental period.

We always receive requests from guests who would like to rent a motorcycle, scooter or quad bike. Companies that offer such vehicles open their doors every now and then, but the shops usually close faster than they were opened. Therefore, we can only hope that the providers listed below will continue to exist for a long time to come.

Recently you can also rent 125 and 250 scooters in Nerja (about 1/2 hour drive east of Sayalonga, Cómpeta and Archez, from Algarrobo and Torrox the way is a bit shorter). The prices are in the middle range. You can find more information here: http://www.competa-online.de/pay/pueblos/nerja/roller-leihen.htm

In Herradura (about 45 minutes east of Cómpeta and Torrox) there is a small shop that has been renting motorcycles for years. We borrowed a BMW 650 GS several times and were very satisfied with the service and especially with the condition of the machines. Here the Internet link: http://www.hispania-tours.de/motorradmiete/bmw-mietmotorrad-spanien/

There are day trips for motorcyclists in Andalusia like sand at the sea. The tours are more interesting in the area of the eastern Costa del Sol, Granada and the Costa Tropical, because there are many more mountains and curves and the area is much more interesting. A very interesting list of beautiful motorcycle tours can be found here (Motorcycle tours Andalusia).

A provider for Quads is unfortunately not known to us at the moment. Very interesting and recommendable excursions with a buggy we will introduce to you here shortly.

As already described in the text a night surcharge of 30,- Euro is due if you arrive after 22:00 at the agreed meeting point; if you arrive after 24:00, 50,- Euro is due. Please pay this amount to the person (our "key child") who will accompany you to your holiday home, counted in cash at the meeting point.

Arrivals after 02:00 am are not normally accepted, please contact us in such a case before booking for a solution.

In the area of Cómpeta, Sayalonga and Torrox, thus in the eastern Axarquía, there are two official nudist beaches that are relatively fast and easy to reach. Otherwise nudism on the beaches is rather frowned upon and officially forbidden; "topless", however, is meanwhile already completely normal.

The one nudist beach (Playa Cantarrijan) is located in a small bay between Herradura and Nerja and can be reached from the coastal road after approximately 1,4 km. The other nudist beach (Playa Almanat) is located between Torre del Mar and Almayate - at the end of the village, directly before the old watchtower, turn left from approx. 1.5 km towards the sea.

Since we also have two small dogs (Dali and Fips), we know very well from our own experience, how difficult it is to find a room or a house with your dog in the vacation, in which also our four-legged friends are welcome. In our offer you will find a large selection of holiday houses, where also dogs are welcome guests. You can see this in the overview under features and on the start page of the respective houses at the bottom of the table. However, there have been some owners in the past who have had bad experiences and therefore no longer allow animals in their houses.

Therefore we would like to ask you to pay special attention to the fact that your four-legged friend does not contribute to the fact that also further owners pronounce a dog prohibition! This would be a pity for all those who want to take their dog with them on holiday and pay attention to their four-legged friends.

Here it is to be paid attention that the dog may not go into the pool! This has not only hygienic reasons, but the water filters clog (we made bad experiences in the past despite reference) and the water had to be drained completely as well as the complete filter plant be exchanged. These costs of approx. 1.300,- Euro incl. water exchange were then charged to the customer on site. It also goes without saying that the dog may not go on the couch or in the beds and the dog excrement on the property will be disposed of by you!

In many holiday accommodations, which we offer, dogs (maximum 2) are also very welcome guests. However, since the dog hair can extend the final cleaning considerably, the owners charge an additional fee of 8,- Euro per day for a dog.

The area around Cómpeta is ideal for hiking or walking for hours during the "colder months" (September to May). Every dog owner knows for himself how much the four-legged friends love to walk with their owners - the longer the better. A leash is usually not necessary with these walks, since you will hardly meet cars. In addition, most of the houses on offer are off the beaten track, so the dog doesn't have to walk on a leash while enjoying the sun. If you take your dog with you to the villages, it is advisable to keep him on a leash in the village. Even if the inhabitants of Cómpeta, Sayalonga ... are now accustomed to tourists, but there remains a different attitude to dogs. Please don't let your dog roam around unobserved, because in the past poison was discovered again and again, which is interpreted by rather heartless people. Thank God we haven't heard about such a case for a long time.

Some of our guests stay with their dogs in the so called "winter" sometimes also some months, because it is very restful and also very healthy for humans and animals in this climate. But please make absolutely sure that your four-legged friend is vaccinated sufficiently against travel illnesses (e.g. Leishmaniasis...) and/or an appropriate prophylaxis in co-operation with your veterinary surgeon was made.

In order to bring your pets to Spain, you must present a certificate of origin and health according to the international model, which must be issued by an officially licensed veterinarian of the country of origin, when you enter Spain. This certificate must also state the date and type of vaccinations, in particular rabies vaccinations, that the animal has received. It is also advisable to take out a dog liability insurance policy (annual premium approx. 40,- Euro) which also covers rental damage.

In restaurants it is generally not allowed to bring your dog with you, but it is usually not a problem if you sit outside. On many beaches there is also a ban on dogs, especially in the high season. In the off-season and in the mid-season there are usually no problems to take a walk on the beach with your dog or to have a beach day with your dog.

If your four-legged friend is not doing so well on holiday, you will find a nice and competent veterinarian in Cómpeta.

The swimming pools of the holiday homes and fincas that we offer on competa-online.de can only be used from April to October. There are a few exceptions, but these are explicitly mentioned in the descriptions of the houses. If you come in a season, in which the pool is covered and you would like to use this nevertheless, for this a fee in the amount of 50, - Euro results, since the pool must be covered extra for you and also be cleaned! In the case of a longer hibernation rental (only the houses that are specially offered for this purpose), the maintenance costs for the pool cleaning may also be incurred in the winter months as additional costs to the rental price, since the rental is outside the pool season!

Even though it is still possible to swim in the Mediterranean Sea in November without freezing to death, the situation is (unfortunately) different for the swimming pools. They cool down much faster than the Mediterranean. Therefore a bath in the winter months is usually quite fresh, even in April a bath in unfavorable weather conditions can be quite more than refreshing.

Normally, the pools are also thoroughly cleaned at the end of October/beginning of November and covered with a tarpaulin. A special chemical that is added to the water ensures that the automatic filter system can be switched off without the water overturning during the winter. In the middle/end of March the pool is covered again, cleaned again, the pH-value is adjusted again and the bathing fun can start again.

During your stay, the pool is usually cleaned once a week and the chlorine and pH values are reset. So please do not send the pool cleaner away. Pool cleaning is of course included in the rental price, but we would still like to ask you to fish leaves or insects floating on the surface out of the pool with the landing net during your holiday. Furthermore we ask you to take a shower before bathing, at least where an outdoor shower is available. Too much sun cream will clog the pool filter and there is a risk that the pool will tip over and you will not be able to use the pool for 3 - 4 days.

Please pay special attention to your children, as most pools are not fenced.

If the pool of your holiday home is not clean, please contact your contact person. In some houses, such as the Finca la Huerta, a gardener comes to look after the plants, the irrigation system and the trees in addition to the pool cleaner.

Basically, the swimming pools of the holiday homes and fincas we offer on competa-online.de are cleaned about once a week. The pH and chlorine values are also checked and adjusted if necessary. This pool cleaning is important and absolutely necessary. Without this cleaning, a pool can slowly turn green (in summer it may take 1 - 3 days) and then tip over. If a pool is tipped over, you should not bathe in it for health reasons. In addition, it can take up to 2 weeks until the pool is clear and usable again. So please do not send away the pool cleaner.

Please understand that a pool cleaner cannot come again the next day just because it is not convenient for you at the moment. Often the pool boys drive 1/2 hour (e.g. in Casa Castillo or Villa Aguila) and longer until they reach the holiday home to clean the pool. You are responsible for the costs of the general cleaning and the loss of use if the pool tips over just because you sent the pool boy away.

Even if the pool cleaning is included in the rental price, we would like to ask you to fish leaves and/or insects swimming on the surface out of the pool during your holiday with the asher lying at the pool.

In principle, you are of course completely undisturbed during your holiday in your holiday home - please also refer to the description on the website. However, you have to consider that the pool has to be cleaned once or twice a week and that a gardener may come once a week for a few hours. If something is defective, someone from us or a craftsman can come by after consultation with you.

Please understand that we cannot give you specific dates (day and time) for pool cleaning or gardening. Furthermore, it is not possible for us to ensure that only female pool cleaners or gardeners come to your holiday home or property. If you do not let a pool cleaner or a gardener on the property, you bear the consequences and this can become really expensive e.g. with a green pool in the summer. Of course the employees don't just burst into your holiday home, they make themselves loudly noticeable before entering the property.

For guests who have already booked with us, or who are personally known to us, or who come on special recommendation, we can also make a binding reservation for a limited period of time for one or the other holiday accommodation - i.e. a free reservation. Of course, the prerequisite for this is that we rent the desired holiday accommodation exclusively. Furthermore, such a reservation is only valid for a limited period (e.g. 1 week), after which it expires automatically without further notice.

For all other customers we cannot make any reservations (free reservations). We ask for your understanding.

We have an overview for you with a short description and a picture of about 30 restaurants, cafes, pubs, tapas bars ... in the area around Cómpeta, Torrox and Sayalonga. This overview is sorted by location and then alphabetically by the listed locations. We try not only to keep this overview up to date, but also to keep it up to date with other restaurants ... to supplement. Therefore we are grateful, if you support us with information. You can find this overview on our old website www-copmpeta-online.de.

Many guests think that a saltwater pool (such as the Casa Centenillo) is as salty as the sea. But that's not right!

The water in these pools is only slightly salty (about 8 times less than the water in the Mediterranean). The salt content in these pools is approx. 0.3 - 0.5 %, i.e. an average of 3 - 5 grams of salt are contained in one kilogram of pool water.). For comparison: the sea water and also the North Sea have a salt content of approx. 3.5 % and the Mediterranean Sea even of approx. 3.8 %.

Surprisingly, the salt content of the European Mediterranean Sea, at about 3.8 percent, is significantly higher than that of the Atlantic or North Sea, at about 3.5 percent. This is a consequence of the strong evaporation, which can no longer be compensated by the influx of rivers and streams. The strong evaporation is also due to the dry winds, which reach the Mediterranean all year round, especially from the northwest. The further one goes to the east, the saltier the water becomes in the Mediterranean. Off the coast of Asia Minor we already have more than 3.9 % salt content.

In all holiday homes you will of course find towels as well as bed linen. Per person and week you will be provided with 2 towels (usually no beach, shower or bath towels!!! Also not bookable!). The beds are already freshly covered on your arrival, the towels are usually on the covered beds (see picture) or are in the respective bedroom cupboard. If you stay 2 or more weeks, a second set of bed linen per person will be placed on the bed.

On our older website www.competa-online.de you'll find a travel guide where places and cities are sorted alphabetically. Lots of information and lots of pictures await you there.

We have selected for you some quite attractive offers about travel insurances (travel cancellation insurance, luggage insurance, foreign travel insurance, health insurance ...) at the MDT (broker of tourism). Please click on this link.

Again and again we get calls and e-mails because guests feel disturbed by wasps. Especially in summer, and especially when it's really hot, wasps look for something to drink and of course find pools again and again. They drink the chlorinated water because it is better than to die of thirst, so there will always be wasps at the pools in summer _ this can never be avoided. There is no 100% remedy for this! You can, however, set up some water containers with tap water in corners near the pool where you are not staying (e.g. fill water bottles cut off in the middle with tap water, ...). This water is not chlorinated, so many wasps prefer it. After a short time you will notice that there are fewer wasps flying and drinking around the pool.

Since the wasps are not stupid, they often build their nests near the pools - we are here in the great outdoors, this simply cannot be avoided. However, it is also forbidden in Spain to destroy wasp or bee nests, as this kills an entire people.

Please consider carefully whether it is really necessary to destroy the wasp nest. Sometimes the nest is in an amphora, which you can simply place a few metres further away, sometimes you can move your seat a few metres, ... If this is not possible, never try to get close to the wasp nest during the day, and especially never attack a wasp nest during the day. Always wait until it is dark. The easiest - but also the most brutal - way is to use an insect spray, spray it on the nest for a few seconds after dark and then remove the nest with a long *broom. Please be careful, because even if the wasps are usually completely lazy at night, it can happen that one or the other wasp attacks. And such a wasp sting really hurts.

If you feel extremely disturbed by a wasp nest and do not dare to destroy it on your own, please call us and send us an e-mail (please with your name and the name of the house). We need to know as exactly as possible where the nest is (preferably with a picture or pictures) and then we will come as soon as possible after dark or at night and remove the nest for you.

In almost all southern countries there are now so-called weekly markets. Besides the original sellers of fish, fruit, vegetables and other food, you will also find a lot of sellers who offer almost everything else your heart desires. From clothes of any kind over shoes (quite inexpensive), ceramics, second hand things, household goods and children's toys one finds actually as good as everything. They are in Andalusia and the clocks are different there.

On www.competa-online.de you will find a link ("Weekly markets"), which gives you an overview of the most beautiful weekly markets in the area. There you will find the day on which the individual markets take place and also the times (usually between 08:00 and 14:00) at which they are open.

Unfortunately we do not offer handicapped accessible holiday houses and unfortunately also no handicapped accessible apartment. On the coast this might be possible, as the area is flat, but in the mountains a wheelchair is not in the least a way to get ahead. The paths are often only dirt roads with small and large holes, many stones, sometimes very narrow and often also very steep. Also in the villages in the mountains, in the pueblos blancos (Cómpeta, Torrox, Canillas de Albaida, Sayalonga, Archez ...), the roads are often very steep and narrow and difficult to overcome obstacles can be seen at every corner. For wheelchair users it gets very, very difficult here.

If you have a stove or a fireplace in your holiday home, you can order a load of wood (mostly olive wood) from us for most objects. The price for the one cubic meter wood delivery is between 70,- Euro and 90,- Euro, depending on the location of your accommodation. Such a load lasts at least 1 - 2 weeks, of course depending on how often you heat up. The wood is brought to your front door of your holiday home - usually just one day after your order. Please give us a call and send us an e-mail if you need wood. Of course, you can also inform yourself about the details of this wood delivery or order a carriage before you move into your holiday home.

Nearly all petrol stations in the area of Cómpeta, Sayalonga and Torrox have been offering wood in handy sacks for some years now. However this wood is comparatively expensive and you can heat up at most 1 - 2 evenings intensively with it. This is a great alternative if you only want to light the fire from time to time, but if you want to do this every day in the long run a possibly expensive affair.

Especially in winter it can get cold in the houses in Andalusia on the Costa del Sol, because often there is no central heating and the insulation of the houses is not the usual standard in Enmgland, Holland, Switzerland, Austria or Germany. For all those, which come between November and April to south Spain, depending upon weather conditions a wood supply can be quite interesting. Please also remember to buy some ignition aids in one of the supermarkets.
